Maids Moreton Parish Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month, at 7.30 pm in the Scout Hut by the playing fields. Members of the public are welcome to attend meetings and to participate where appropriate. People can and should talk to us about concerns and aspirations they have about the village.

Parish Councils are the first level of elected government with few direct powers. Maids Moreton Parish Council is the link between the village, Aylesbury Vale District Council and Buckinghamshire County Council. As such it is consulted on proposals on such diverse matters as future development, transport, waste management and many others.

The current Parish Council consists of all new members with a new clerk. Our aspirations are to improve the maintenance of the village, make this a safe, cared for village to live in.

At present consideration of future planning of new housing in our parish is on our agenda. We see and can comment on planning matters related to the village. We have limited powers but we can attempt to prompt AVDC to do the right things for the village. Upgrading street lighting is another priority, and a phased renewal over a number of years is envisaged. The lanterns are corroded and mercury vapour lamps are to be phased out.

Maids Moreton Playing FieldsThe Council receives money from AVDC via the precept to fund street lighting, dog bins, litter bins, maintenance of the playing field, the Scout buildings, the cricket pavilion, the small children’s play area, the access roads that the Parish Council owns. There are certain trees within the village that we are responsible for pollarding and trimming. Financial support of local groups is also derived from the precept.
